Rubik's Cube [Nov. 12th, 2009|11:33 am]
For about a month now I've been practicing my 3X3 Rubik's Cube. I got down the basics of it really well and can solve it under 2 minutes consistently now. I recently got a 4X4 Rubik's Cube Revenge and a 5X5 Rubik's Cube Professor and the first couple times solving it took me a couple hours but I can do the 5X5 in about 40 minutes, though I still need to refer to my notes for the two parity error algorithms. I could do it a lot faster if the thing would turn worth a damn. Maybe I'll invest in a V-Cube which seems to turn much easier. The 4X4 Cube is a bit tougher than the 5X5 and it seems there are more steps to solving the frequently occurring parity errors. My next step is taking on the 7X7 V-cube.

Would you rent or buy the home of your dreams if a brutal murder had taken place there? What if you got to live there rent-free? Would you think twice if neighbors warned you that it was haunted?

I has candy [Nov. 1st, 2009|03:23 pm]
Yesterday I went out trick or treating with one of my co-workers and her two kids. Why even bother with a halloween costume if you're just going to wear a coat over it LOL. I got there around 4:30 in suit (I can drive with it on minus the head) and they had just gotten started so just as I was about to leave to go find them, some kids came up and thought I lived at the house where I was parked so they trick or treated me but I told them that I was also trick or treating and hadn't gotten any candy yet. Well, their bags were full and just loaded me up before I even moved. Ha! A full bucket of candy before knocking on one door. Anyway, I trick or treated for 3 hours and filled 2 more buckets of candy. What's cool about trick-or-treating with kids is that you can have a swap meet after its over. They give me their adult candy like Almond Joy and Mounds and I give them all my tootsie rolls and suckers because they liked them better. Then I ate a ton of Domino's pizza, watched the rest of the NYY/PHI game and played some Beatles Rock Band before going home and almost immediately falling asleep. I've got a plastic grocery bag filled to the rim with good halloween candy.

Not one person ever said I was too old or shouldn't be out. Nearly every door I went to we were held up for a moment by the person wanting to squee at my 'costume' and telling the rest of his/her family to come look. Everyone was excited for me to be there. I can tell you plenty of events where fursuits most definitely do not belong but we do them anyway, but here's an event where fursuits do belong and I get flack for wanting to do it because its "for the kids".

This one is SOOOOO easy. I would date Donatello from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in a second. My obsession with Donatello is probably not healthy but I dun care.

This Is It [Oct. 30th, 2009|01:53 am]
Tonight I saw "Michael Jackson's: This Is It". The movie is basically a look at his final tour that never came to be, This Is It. The film shows various songs and how it was going to look on stage. There is some rehearsals. They also show many of the stage surprises and also some impressive remotes that were shot for the backgrounds.

The first half of this movie was really good. They showed how the choreography and performances came together and I was impressed with just how much Michael was in charge of entertaining an audience. Half way through, however, the movie hits a brick wall. There is just basically Michael on stage going over some material for the rest of the movie. They try to fit most of the popular songs but they could have cut out about 20-30 minutes and it still would have held up well.

6/10--- 8/10 on the first half, 3/10 on the second half

Even though my rating isn't very high, I recommend everyone who has ever liked a Jackson song to see this movie. I'm not even a Michael Jackson fan but I came out of the theater glad I saw it.

Don't hate me [Oct. 23rd, 2009|05:24 am]
Ok, I know I've read some reviews on Where the Wild Things Are and it seems that people, or at least furries are really getting into it.

I just came from two movies so here's my review of them.

Where the Wild Things Are: This movie is about....uh... well. I have no idea! This imaginative kid runs away from home and ends up on a sailboat heading to sea and he ends up on this island where there are some butt ugly creatures that are quite dumb. The kid tells them that he was a king and they just take his word for it and go running off through the woods. After that the movie is about nothing. The kid and creatures bond by playing games and the kid leaves and goes back home. Movie over.

3/10 -- It earns a couple points because at least the scenery was kinda neat and a couple chuckles came at the expense of the goat that no one listens to.

Law Abiding Citizen: This is about a man who's wife and kid are killed by two home invaders. They get caught and he wants the death penalty for both of them but the prosecuting attorney gives one the death penalty and the other a 5 year deal. So now the movie is 10 years later and the guy is ready for action. That's all I'm gonna say about it. It was really good action and I was into the story all the way to the end. You don't know who to cheer for, the man who had his family taken from him or the attorney who's trying to stop him.

7/10 -- It does lose some points for the characters put in place to 'explain in Lehman's terms' what is going on for the slow people in the audience that don't have any comprehension skills at all. I hate that.

Boo at the Zoo starts in about 6 hours.. I should probably get some sleep for it. I'm usually an all night person because of work but if I don't get a couple hours sleep I'll be a zombie. First, a bit to eat.. then sleep.

Capitalism: A Love Story [Oct. 16th, 2009|12:20 am]
Tonight I saw Michael Moore's Capitalism: A Love Story. As with previous Moore movies like Bowling for Columbine, Fahrenheit 911, and Sicko, all of which I liked, I'm not so sure he researched his facts very well for this documentary. His previous movies had hard facts and figures as well as less specific cases that represented a large chunk of America.

He goes on about some very specific cases and does present some insight into the credit crunch and lay offs throughout the nation's history but he fails to present one very important fact about the mortgage crisis. PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY AND LIVING WITHIN YOUR MEANS!

First of all, don't buy a house that is "what you can afford" This means that you are pushing your finances to their limits and aren't leaving room for emergency situations or other spending that comes up. Also, don't rule out renting. You might be throwing away $700 for rent but you are also throwing money away in a mortgage when you pay property taxes, interest and whatever association fees or other charges are included in your mortgage payment and it often times adds up to more than you would spend on a rent payment and less utilities that are already included in your rent.

So many people buy so much crap that they don't know what to do with. They eat out which costs substantially more on average than eating at home. They don't bother with cutting coupons or looking for good sales on groceries. When I was in Quixtar, a home business, I got turned down by so many people who needed an extra income who just refused to even listen to a proposal.

Back to the movie though, Moore addresses the banking failure but includes banks that were victims to the crash that were dissolved overnight. WaMu for example. They weren't hurting that bad but Chase was allowed to take them over. Another company is AIG. They aren't even a banking institution, they are an insurance company but still needed bailed out because of the foreclosures of people who aren't needing the insurer anymore. We have to remember that the bailouts are not handouts. They are 79% liens put on the businesses to repay the money to the government with interest. The bailout might have been $700 Billion but we are expected to recoup that money plus more.

Sorry if this post was too long to read and there is more to say about the movie that I didn't like but I would still say that it is an important and still entertaining movie to see.

Rating: 6/10.

Paranormal Activity [Oct. 9th, 2009|07:08 am]
Went to the midnight showing of Paranormal Activity. I hadn't seen the preview but it was being hailed as a cult classic that will scare you senseless. I knew it was going to be one of these fake documentaries done with a hand held camcorder and was ready for that.

The movie had a tense tone with it all the way throughout but there was nothing that made me jump out of my seat or anything. It did a good job with the creepiness and suspense but it just followed a formula that I've seen so many times before.

I'm only giving it a 5/10. However, I do recommend seeing it once. I'm probably being too harsh with it since most people seem to like it.

Drama Llama [Sep. 30th, 2009|06:17 pm]
LOL, the drama bomb wants to find me today. Apparently, it is assumed that I want to have sex with Devils which I don't. At least not now. Underage furs are not even on my radar. Of course, his butt buddies Leon and Pawnce are trying to speak for him and make a big deal over nothing. I don't really give a shit if they don't want to be my friend. We never hang out or talk much anymore anyway. My life will go on as normal.

Two stories of interest and a cool video. [Sep. 29th, 2009|07:30 pm]
http://mashable.com/2009/09/28/obama-assassination-poll-facebook/

This is a story about a poll that was on Facebook that asked the question "Should Obama be killed?". Other news stories are using the work 'assassination' as even this story's headline reads. However, people need to not be so rushed to judge the person who made the poll. The asker of any poll is a neutral party. He doesn't ask if people want him to go kill the president. He doesn't even say that it will be a murder. It could mean should the president go die in a fire or die in a car wreck or by some other means. Now of course it is a matter for the Secret Service to investigate but this guy who made the poll should not be charged with anything. If the poll is determined to be a threat then if any arrests are to be made it should be to the folks who voted "YES". Again, the poll asker is a neutral party.

"Ex-gay" group calls hate crime laws "anti-ex-gay": "According to PFOX (Parents and Friends of Exgays), hate crime laws protecting gays and lesbians themselves constitute hate crimes against ex-gays. Because if you tell people that they can’t beat up people because they’re gay, you discriminate against the people who beat up gay people."

Here's a cool video that is done all in one long shot. Tonights gonna be a good good night.
